America’s Loss Of Wisdom
I Corinthians 1:24 & 30
24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption
Colossians 1:9 - For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding
Colossians 2:2-3 - Christ; In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
Isaiah 29:13-16
13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:
14 Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.
15 Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the Lord, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?
16 Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?
II Peter 2:12 - But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption.
Jude v. 10 - But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.

If …
All the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hid - laid up, stored away, reserved - in Christ …
Then …
When a nation starts to turn away from Christ the Word made flesh, it will become, as Peter and Jude write — a BRUTISH nation.
The word “brute” means: destitute of reason; contrary to reason; absurd.
The word “brute” comes from the Latin “Brutus” and means: heavy, dull, stupid, insensible, unreasonable.
I have become increasingly concerned about the deterioration of our country: morally and spiritually.
I’m 65 now. I can, with relative clarity, remember 60 years of life. Our country is unrecognizable compared to what it was 60+ years ago. It’s hard to imagine that in second grade our class started the day with us all standing and saying The Lord’s Prayer and The Pledge of Allegiance. That was normal THEN …
But now …
Both of these have been tossed into the trash can of a polluted society that increasingly wants nothing to do with the God of the Bible.
I recently came across a great country music song that both Randy Travis and Merle Haggard sing. It’s called: “Are The Good Times Really Over?” It has a line in it which asks the question: “Are we rolling down hill like a snowball headed for Hell?
My answer …
Unequivocally, YES.
I believe we’re pretty close to being completely melted down to nothing … nothing like we used to be or should be.
Isaiah in 29:14, under inspiration by God, makes a statement that shook me to my core a few years back. I think it explains what has happened to us as a people, country, world.
“Therefore, behold, I {God} will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.”
This speaks so clearly of us as a nation. We’ve been in the process of turning things “upside down” for quite some time now.
My thoughts —
When God is told to leave and go away, He does just that. But when that happens, something else happens as well. The wisdom of wise men perish and the understanding of prudent men is hid. That’s really, really, scary stuff.
We are so on our own now it isn’t funny. We have chosen to go our own way and the fallout is going to be catastrophic. It’s now reached the point of no return. Too much innocent blood has been shed and too much immorality has been embraced.
You say: “No, you’re wrong; God can still turn it all around.” Yes, God can turn it around … but I’m not so sure it’ll happen again on any grand sort of scale. We’ve flipped-off God for too long.
Our country has been “blessed” by God for the length of it’s existence. Have we forgotten “unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required?
Perhaps it’s time to break out the ole’ Doxology once again:
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise him, all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
If we don’t, the wisdom that has kept us afloat for so long isn’t going to be able to sustain us much longer.
