Aviv Report
Hi Everyone,
I wanted to send out the Aviv report of the state of the barley in the land. As you may or may not know, the barley needs to be in a particular stage of ripeness before the sighting of the new moon for that month to be declared the 1st month of the Biblical year. The month of Aviv is the 1st month of the Biblical calendar. This is obviously important as it sets the calendar for the rest of the Biblical festival dates.
Follow this link to read about the Aviv report from Devorah’s Date Tree. They are a group in Israel who look for the ripeness of the barley and also sight the new moon each month. I have been following them for years now. There is a nice graphic in the post with potential dates for Passover and the week of unleavened bread.
Currently, we are in the 12th month. The new moon should be visible, if the weather provides, end of the day on the 25th of March. This would put Passover, the 14th of Aviv, on April 8th.
The team in Israel will be going back out next week to look again at the Barley to see if it will be fully Aviv. If it is, this coming new moon will start the 1st month. If the barley is not Aviv there will be a 13th month this year.
We shall see. Shalom!
