This is a tremendous verse. There could be any number of settings that this Psalm could fit into. A popular thought is that it was sung on a pilgrim journey to Jerusalem for a festival. That might very well be. But, let’s just think about it in the framework of someone on a hike going from point A to point B.

Leviticus 14:34 - When ye be come into the land of Canaan, which I give to you for a possession, and I put the plague of leprosy in a house of the land of your possession … God is giving the children of Israel instructions (Torah/Law) concerning leprosy that is found in one of their houses after the conquest of the land.

Is God Really Sovereign? Or is it:  Random Chance And Happenstance? Perhaps your answer might be something like: Well, of course He is! That’s my answer too. Theologically, I know God is sovereign. However, the practical, everyday ramification of God's sovereignty is permeating me more than it ever has before.

No … not really … but … It’s amazing how many people ask right off: “Do you no longer celebrate such-and-such a holiday?” Or, “Is that pagan too?” Or, “Are you not able to eat this either?” It seems that in most people’s minds this Hebraic life is defined by what we don’t or can’t do. Right away it’s all cast in a negative light in peoples’ perceptions. And you know what … I get it. I really do.

Our Source of Life Matthew 4:4 — But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
