Our Source of Life
Our Source of Life Matthew 4:4 — But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
I know I say I believe this. I know you would probably say you believe this. But, in saying that, what does it mean to you? If we say we believe something, does that make it a living reality in our lives? Don’t get me wrong. It is good to believe this. It is good to acknowledge this. It is a positive statement to be voiced with our mouth. But, what does it really mean to you?
Whether “Christian” or “Hebraic” we need to come face-to-face with the reality of where we are in our relationship with the word of God. Shouldn’t it mean something to us if we really believe the Word was made flesh and dwelt amongst us? Think of it: The Word that was made flesh is what we hold in our hands and read. That staggers the imagination! I want this reality to connect with us. It needs to make an actual difference in our daily lives.
It’s about our relationship with the living Messiah. He is the One who made all things — everything! He came and lived amongst men. If you’re saved He, the Torah made flesh, now lives within you. What you now hold in your hands and read is your Father’s precious communication to you His child.
Does that move you? It must if you’ve been born-again. I know you hunger to absorb the word of God. In your innermost being you long to have it captivate and control you. But, the flesh gets in the way every time. Galatians 5:17 says it very well: For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
It all comes down to a choice as to what really matters to you. Everyday life gets in the way — every day. Every day, you make decisions concerning how you prioritize your life. The number one priority has to become your time spent with your Father. Is it easy? No. Are you always going to “hunger” to set time apart so you can be in the word with your Father? No.
However, we must remember Matthew 4:4. I take it to mean that as our daily food nourishes the physical man so the Bible does our spiritual man. If we don’t eat food we become physically malnourished. If we don’t consume our spiritual food we will become spiritually malnourished.
You might not see and feel the immediate affects of spiritual malnourishment like you would in the physical. Partaking of God’s word will keep you from shriveling up on the vine.
John 15:5 — I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
Purpose to go to your Source of Life every day. You will always be glad you did.
