Who Wrote This?

“If you do not contend with your whole heart against the impious government of the pope, you cannot be saved. Whoever takes delight in the religion and worship of popery, will be eternally lost in the world to come. If you reject it, you must expect to incur every kind of danger, and even to lose your lives. But it is far better to be exposed to such perils in this world than to keep silence. So long as I live I will denounce to my brethren the sore and the plague of Babylon, for fear that many who are with us may fall back like the rest into the bottomless pit of perdition.” Continue reading “Who Wrote This?”

Vayechi “And He Lived”

Vayechi “And He Lived” ·Genesis 47:28-50:26 ·1 Kings 2:1-12 ·John 13:1-19, 1 Peter 1:1-9

In this portion we read of the ending of the patriarchs Abraham, Issac and Jacob also called Israel. Israel dies in Egypt but is buried in the land of Canaan in the burial plot of his fathers. Picking up where they leave off is Joseph who watches over the family until he also dies at 110 years old. There is then a period of a few hundred or so years until God raised up Moses to be the eventual deliverer of the people from slavery. Continue reading “Vayechi “And He Lived””

You are what you do.

Psalm 50:23 Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.

The word ‘conversation’ is the same as ‘way’ in Genesis 3:24 ‘the way of the tree of life.‘ Notice it is not ‘the way unto the tree of life’, but ‘the way of the tree of life. Our word ‘way’ is the same word as ‘conversation’ which to me is very interesting. This is because what we believer, think, say and do are really all the same things. What we do (our way) is what we say and is what we really believe.

If our conversation (way) is ordered aright we will see the salvation of God. If our way (conversation) is right we will eat from the tree of life: Revelation 22:14. I hope you’re seeing the connection.

Many of us profess certain values, but the daily actions of our lives are far from these statements. I can say I’m a writer, but if I do not write most every day and structure my life events to be so I am just kidding myself.

We are what we do and what we say is what we really believe. Is your way of the tree of life? What is your conversation?

The Fall Of Nations

Isaiah 47:10 —For thou hast trusted in thy wickedness: thou hast said, None seeth me. Thy wisdom and thy knowledge, it hath perverted thee; and thou hast said in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me.

Sometimes I think I’m turning into a “doom-and-gloom” person when it comes to our nation and the world in general. I never used to be this way.

When I got saved in 1973, the times and the world were much different. Things were on the horizon, but we kind of figured they were still far off in the distant future. But two things changed that mindset for me. Continue reading “The Fall Of Nations”
